In a stunning race to cap an exciting triathlon season, BH Athlete Fernando Alarza and Javier Gomez, fresh off their podium finishes at the ITU World Triathlon Championships, cross the finish line together at the French Grand Prix in Nice. It is a memorable moment of formidable opponents who also have a fellowship as Spanish teammates.
The 2013 ITU World Triathlon Championships in London was the Grand Final in the 7-city ITU series spanning the tri season. The course was the same that BH athlete Mario Mola had raced earlier in the year at Olympics, finishing in the top-20 featuring the world’s top triathletes. In the Grand Final, Mario was steady in the water, steadily gained more ground on the bike with fast bike splits, and ran a sold leg on the run that easily cinched a bronze medal in the podium standings.
BH Athlete Fernando Alarza comes into the ITU U-23 Championship with an impressive list of podium finishes from the 2013 season. The ITU Championship is the culmination of the 7-city international series spanning several months, with the Grand Final in London, England. Fernando quickly displays why he has been a force on the circuit all year, but narrowly missing a repeat finish of his U-23 2012 Championship by a mere 4 seconds, receiving the silver medal at this year’s race.
BH athlete Fernando Alarza wins the International Wild Wolf Triathlon Series in Barcelona Spain, adding to what has been an impressive tri season of top podium finishes. The course with challenging circuits, is known as one of Spain’s most prominent races where athletes come from all over Europe to complete.
BH Athlete Gurutze Frades finished the prestigious Challenge of Vitoria in second place with 60 top triathletes. Frades made an excellent finish in the 42 kilometers run and hit the podium with a time of 9 hours 59 minutes and 45 seconds.
BH athlete Eneko Llanos is proclaimed the European Champion after winning Ironman Frankfurt in an impressive time of 7:59:58.
This is his 6th Ironman win, and 2nd time doing so under 8 hours. One more reason he is proving that he’s ready for the Ironman Championships in Kona.
Gurutze Frades, the newest member of team BH wins the Extreme Man Triathlon in Getxo, Spain.
She completed the grueling course of 1,900 m swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running with an impressive time of 5:02:08.
After completing a 750m swim, triathletes cycled through the village and then began an ascent of 867 meters over 11.5km of hairpin mountain roads before facing another 136-meter incline on the 2.5km run. The bike climb reached gradients of 22.3% – set among one of the most spectacular backdrops in Europe. The ITU Kitzbühel is the 5th race that is part of the 7-city tour, spanning several continents.
BH athlete Eneko Llanos wins the Zarautz triathlon and is crowned a historic10-time Zarautz Champion
Eneko Llanos proved unbeatable from the get-go, inserting himself at the lead of the pack right from the start. Over the last segment of the course he continued to expand the distance over his rivals, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:42:50. Eneko Llanos continues his great tri season, earning his third major victory this year; These victories have provided him with the necessary points to qualify for the Ironman Championship in Kona.
Fresh from her Ironman St Croix 70.3 victory, Catriona Morrison led the race Zarautz Triathlon from start to finish and has proved herself as a force to be reckoned with this tri season. She crossed the victory line with a time of 4:0916, and earned her second Zarautz Championship.
